Wayne Gudmundson is an American photographer known for his landscape photographs, which feature, among others, in the collections of MoMA in New York, the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, and the Reykjavik Museum of Photography. His work has been studied and commented on by leading figures in photography such as Robert Adams.
As part of our Artistic Observatory program, Wayne Gudmundson stayed in Trampot from May 31 to June 6, 2024. There, he photographed the village's ash tree avenue and other avenues in the surroundings. True to his approach to landscape, he sought to capture the spirit of the place and what it reveals of the general history of the avenues and our societies.
Three prints of the 25 selected photographs were produced with the collaboration of Geoffrey Peckham at the Tusen Takk Foundation in Michigan, resulting in stunningly vivid images.
The photographs were exhibited for the first time from April 26 to May 25, 2025, in Trampot. The exhibition was accompanied by the publication of a catalog (90 pages, French and English), postcards, and magnets (available in our online store). They were exhibited in the United States at the North Dakota Art Museum from July 10 to October 5, 2025.
