"Should the plane trees along the roadsides be cut down?" The question has once again resurfaced in the media in connection with the petition from the association 40 millions d'automobilistes. However, it has been established for years that road safety is not correlated with the presence of trees along roadsides and also that these tree roads, together with the road, form ‘avenues’, a cultural, environmental and social heritage. The essential beauty of tree avenues is essential for our lives. It is high time to broaden the perspectiv about roadside trees.
